I'm dreaming of a Purple GHD Christmas (!?)

Purple GHD Price Comparison

Okay, so the headline would have read better if it was the white ghd hair straighteners that were being launched now (rather than back in May) but alas the world of high fashion does not indulge clichéd bloggers and so I must make do with shoehorning the latest ghd colour into the oh-so-predictable seasonal headline (Oi! It’s still Autumn, Ed).

ghd, being decidedly less clichéd than your humble scribe, have decided that instead of a Bing Crosby-style White Christmas, this festive season it is all going to be about the lush purple ghd with funky paisley pattern design (not as snappy a song name, but a pretty amazing looking ghd judging by the first pictures circulating the internet).

Purple GHD Christmas Gift Set

That is right, your eyes are not deceiving you – ghd are launching a purple ghd with an übertrendy paisley pattern design.  The finish is the same high gloss that has been so successfully used on the pink ghd, the white ghd pure and the black ghd dark.

To use a recent quote from the poptastic Simon Cowell, this might be a bit of a marmite ghd – some people are going to hate it and some people are going to love it, and the verdict here at Compare GHD is (dramatic pause)……. we love it!

We reckon the purple ghd is probably the most sophisticated and grown-up looking ghd yet, and demonstrates just how daring and innovative ghd are willing to be in their, now regular, seasonal limited edition brand extensions.

Of course being Christmas, the purple ghd doesn’t come on its lonesome and is part of a fully featured ghd christmas gift set.  This year the extras on offer are:

  • Purple ghd 2000W travel hair dryer
  • Purple ghd sectioning clips
  • Purple ghd travel bag with multiple compartments.

Including the purple ghd travel bag and adding highly relevant hair styling accessories (the purple ghd hair dryer and purple ghd sectioning clips) to the gift set marks a stunning return to form by ghd in accessorising up their gift offerings with things that the majority of potential recipients will really want (not that some people wouldn’t have wanted a gold lamé clutch bag last Christmas).

In particular the purple ghd travel bag is reminiscent of the much-loved black ghd christmas travel bag from a few years back (2005 if memory serves me right). This proved to be one of the most popular ghd gift sets ever, and some retailers at the time reported that it was outselling the pink ghd (during the period when the two overlapped).   It is great to see the ghd travel bag back and looking better than ever. The purple ghd paisley pattern has been extended on to the ghd travel bag to give a very stylish appearance and set the purple ghd travel bag apart from the multitude of competitor products.

The purple ghd travel hair dryer is also likely to prove a very popular gift.  A black version was launched earlier this year in a relatively low-key manner and it will be intresting to see if this high profile appearance in the 2008 ghd christmas gift set will prompt ghd to increase their focus on hair dryers in 2009.

So there you have it folks, the 2008 ghd christmas gift set with purple ghd, purple ghd travel bag, purple ghd hair dryer and purple ghd sectioning clips.  It is due on sale later this month (October) and we’ll be creating a purple ghd price comparison as soon as some of our ghd approved internet retailers start to stock it.

The RRP is expected to be £155, but don’t fret, our unbeatable ghd price comparison will be sure to save you up to 20% or more on this!

Not if you want genuine ones…. No ghd approved website that we know of has these in stock (or has had them in stock for at least the last 6 months). All the ones you see on the net are fakes (check out our fake ghd guide from the articles section).

SANTA is sooo getting me these for christmas. know a woman who can get them for me for £70 and yes, they are real!

Compareghd.com says: It’s not often that we’ll stick our neck out Alison and say something for certain, but at £70 for purple ghd’s that have been totally sold out for the best part of a year… Nah, no chance they are real. When they were in stock at ghd approved retailers, the cheapest we ever saw the price was around £139, and most sites stuck pretty close to the RRP of £155. You sound very excited, and so we can only urge you to tell Santa to look again, otherwise you’ll be very disapointed when you call ghd to verify your ghd code. Actually why not call ghd themselves on 0845 330 1133 and ask them now before it is too late?
