ghd hair straighteners - price cut on the official ghd website.

Friday, July 9th, 2010 by admin

For a limited time only the official ghd website (ghdhair.com) is selling all three ghd IV stylers at the price of £99 (rather than the normal RRP, which ranges from £109 - £119).

The three models that savings can be made on are as follows:

ghd IV Styler

The benchmark when it comes to professional salon-quality ceramic hair straighteners. The ghd IV Styler is the best-selling, multi-award winning hair straightening sensation.  Launched in its current incarnation in late 2007, the ghd IV hair iron, is suitable for all hair types and hair lengths.  In addition to providing perfect straight hair, it was designed to enable you to create flicks, curls and waves without having to visit your stylist!

ghd Salon Styler

Perfect for those with extra-long, or extra-thick hair, the ghd Salon Styler is also ideal for Afro-Caribbean hair types. A wide-plated hair straightener, the Salon Styler features exactly the same hair straightening technology as normal ghd hair straighteners, with the exception of having wider 1.5″ ceramic plates.  Sometimes known as ghd wides, these ghd straighteners continue to be the second-best selling ghd model.

ghd Mini Styler

Designed for men and for women with short hairstyles, this versatile ghd straightener can also be used to create tight curls, and there are plenty of ghd addicts who have both this and the normal ghd straighteners in their styling bag.

The main difference between this and normal ghd hair straighteners is that the plates and barrel on the mini styler are narrower.  These narrower plates and barrel allow for easier control when straightening shorter hair lengths.  They also allow the straightener to be twisted more tightly (hence its ability to create smaller, tighter curls).

Compare cheap ghd prices

Of course this discounted price on the official website is still slightly more expensive than some of the other approved ghd retailers that we feature here on compareghd.com.  Right now the cheap ghd prices on Amazon seem pretty unbeatable, but several other merchants offer great “bundle” deals that can prove even better value if you are after some of the accessories and other styling products on offer.

In general all approved ghd websites offer great value for money, and many of these sites also stock numerous exclusive hair and beauty ranges, allowing you to to combine your purchase of ghd hair straighteners with your favourite skin care, hair care or cosmetic products in one easy purchase.

ghd hair straighteners - latest news!

Sunday, December 6th, 2009 by admin

First up in the world of ghd hair straighteners, stock seems to be getting very limited on the ghd pink. We’ve only got three merchants left on our price comparison tables with any stock, and we’d wager that they will all sell out in the next couple of weeks (either that or expect so see the price skyrocket well above the RRP).

4 quick tips for buying ghd hair straighteners at Christmas

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009 by admin

Whoosh. What a weekend that was! Visitor numbers to Compareghd.com have gone through the roof and sales via our ghd retailer partners are sky high.  One thing is for certain, the Christmas rush as started!

Anyway, in celebration of the ghd Christmas rush and in anticipation of our ultimate ghd buying guide’s release later this week, we’ve put together 4 quick tips for those of you buying ghds this Christmas:

Tip 1:  The ghd Limited Editions Sell out Fast!

We are already seeing pretty limited availability for the ghd pretty in pink gift set. The 2009 pink ghd has been a sales sensation and there are no more stocks available to retailers, which means that when a website has sold out, it has sold out!

The ghd precious limited edition has better availability at the time of writing, but this will change as November gives way to December.  As this happens your chance of paying less than the RRP will be as likely as a foot of the white stuff come the 25th!

There are still some bargains to be had on the ghd precious and the ghd pink, but don’t wait any longer for these, as soon it will be RRP (or more!)

Tip 2: Picking the right ghds

ghd’s come in three sizes: normal, wide and mini.  We’ll be covering this in much more detail in our exclusive buying guide, but in short here is what you need to know:

ghd mini - buying for a boy or a girl with very short hair (or someone who wants just to create very tight spiral curls?)

ghd wides - these suit very thick, very long or some afro-caribbean hair.

normal - this covers most hair types, and styles.  Unless either the ghd mini or the ghd wides (also known as the ghd salon styler) have jumped out at you as the most obvious choice, then go with the normal ghd IV styler (or one of the limited editions which are both normal ghds) and you will be fine!

Tip 3: Fake ghds are guaranteed to spoil your Christmas

Whether you are buying for yourself or a loved one, don’t enter those card details until you are certain what you are buying is legitimate.  Please take just 5 minutes to read our guide to spotting and avoiding fake ghds (in the article menu at the top of the page).

Tip 4: You get the best deals at Compareghd.com

We’re independent, we don’t sell ghds ourselves, and we only list ghd hair straighteners in price order (cheapest first!)  Which pretty much makes us unique amongst ghd price comparison websites!  That’s why we are number 1!

ghd hair straighteners - new adverts show a wicked sense of humour

Thursday, November 19th, 2009 by admin

ghd has finally retired the “urban angel” / religious imagery adverts that have been the mainstay of their TV and press advertising for their range of ghd hair straighteners.

The new adverts by RKCR/ Y&R represent quite a major departure, and one that we welcome - they show the product!  A lot of the previous ghd adverts were very heavy on the film noir cues but reasonably light on ghd hair straighteners or people using them to straighten their hair.

This new advert, although still stunningly shot and featuring a continuation of the smart, sassy, ghd - wielding female lead, actually shows some hair being straightened and also a good close-up of the ghd IV styler itself.

The ethos of these new adverts is summed up in the slogan, “you can do anything with your hair”. This reflects the increased versatility of the ghd IV Styler, that was first introduced as the flagship ghd hair straightener in late 2006, replacing the ghd 3.1b.

The ghd IV Styler has a more rounded barrel and better performance, allowing you to create curls, flicks and waves as well as poker straight hair.  Although this initial advert was smart to focus on hair straightening (as this is far and away the most common reason for buying ghd straighteners), expect future adverts to focus on some of the more adventurous styles that are possible in the comfort of your own bedroom (or boudoir) thanks to the abilities of the ghd IV Styler.

Anyway, if you didn’t see the premier of the new ghd “Rapunzel” advert during the first advert break of last Saturday’s X factor, then here it is for your delectation (do let us know what you think of it in the comments section below):

The boyfriend’s guide to ghd - coming soon

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009 by admin

Around this time every year we get several emails from guys who have been told to buy a set of ghd hair straighteners for their better half, but are frankly finding the whole ghd hair straighteners “thing” a bit of a nightmare.

This year things are going to be even worse given the fact that legitimate sites are losing the battle for Google rankings to the dozens (and dozens) of counterfeit sites using supposedly “banned” search engine manipulation tactics (although they don’t seem to be getting punished for it at all).

So not only does the newbie ghd shopper have to successfully navigate the various models and offers, but he (or she - the guide is equally applicable to girlfriends, mums, dads, aunties, uncles, grannies, grandads, etc) has to somehow avoid buying a fake set.

All-in-all the challenge for the ghd customer this Christmas is a mighty steep one, so we have worked on a brand new guide that will hopefully make the process much more straightforward and even a fair bit cheaper - we are the definative source for cheap ghds after all!

The guide will cover three main sections:

  • Which ghd hair straightener to buy
  • How to avoid buying a fake
  • Where to buy ghd in the UK

Obviously we already have an extremely popular “fake ghd spotting ” guide so this part of the new guide won’t go into quite as much detail (as visitors can check out our other guide afterwards).  However, the “which ghd hair straightener to buy” section will be entirely new, and will even feature some famous faces (or famous hair styles to be more accurate) to help visitors work out why ghd styler is best for the person they are buying it for.

Of course the “where to buy ghd in the UK” will be slightly self-promoting (given that we honestly are one of the best places to compare and buy ghd hair straighteners). However, we’ll be mentioning the other places that you can buy ghd hair straighteners from (like those old Radio Times adverts that told you that there were other TV listings magazines available).   Of course we want people to use our ghd price comparison tables, but to be honest we just really want to make sure that everyone who buys some ghds this Christmas gets a decent deal on a genuine product, so don’t expect too hard a sell for Compareghd.com.

Anyway, the Christmas ghd buyers guide is looking to be one of the most useful bits of content that we’ve produced, and to celebrate its launch, we’ll be running two exclusive ghd hair straightener competitions to help spread the word, one for UK bloggers and one for UK “tweeters”.

More details will be released along with the ghd buying guide itself later this week.

ghd Precious Gift Set

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009 by admin

We are super excited about the new ghd Precious Gift Set. With so much doom and gloom about this year, isn’t it great that ghd have decided to treat us to such an opulent and classically designed Limited Edition ghd.

The intricate and deliberately elegant silver and black design on the new Limited Edition ghd hair straightener wouldn’t look out of place amongst the Baroque finery of somewhere like Blenheim Palace.

ghd Precious Hair Straighteners

Baroque Splendour at Blenhiem Palace

The new Baroque ghd hair straightener looks absolutely stunning, with a silver overlay tracing out delicate and intricate patterns in the glossy black ghd hair straightener.

Of course it is not just the ghd Precious hair straighteners themselves that are absolutely stunning.

Our first impressions of the ghd Precious roll bag are very good as well.  Aside from the dazzling sparkle of the stone studded exterior and the bold, oversized shiny black bow, we are also delighted to see ghd continuing with a return to featuring hair care accessories within their ghd Limited Editions.

Although ghd can certainly cut it amongst the most fashionable brands in the World, they are fundamentally a hair care brand and as such, the inclusion of a ghd travel dryer and ghd roll bag with detatchable ghd heat proof mat makes this Christmas 2009 gift set a sure fire sales sensation.

RRP is set at £155, which is the same as last year’s ghd Purple, and represents great value considering what is included in the ghd Precious Christmas gift set.

Whether or not we will see much in the way of discounting by our ghd Approved internet retailers waits to be seen.  Although there were deals to be hand with the ghd Purple, we get the feeling that this is a whole level up in terms of desirability and so we expect a cat fight this Christmas as shoppers fall over themselves to get their hands on a Limited Edition Christmas 2009 ghd Precious Gift Set.

One last point is that after a timely launch of the ghd baby pink IV Styler, the expected mid-October launch of the ghd Precious IV Styler gift set means that there should hopefully be none of the stock and an availability problems that affected the launch of the ghd Purple last time around.

Anyway, there is more info on the new ghd Precious on our main website, along with the first couple of photos we could get our hands on. Much, much more as and when we get it:

ghd IV Styler – The Key Benefits!

Sunday, August 31st, 2008 by admin

ghd – an introduction

ghd transformed the world of hairdressing and ghd hair straighteners have become the must-have accessory for women everywhere.

Therefore, back in late 2006, it came as absolutely no surprise that the revolutionary ghd iv styler was one of the most anticipated hair products ever.

Compared to the previous mk3.1b model, the ghd iv styler was a radical design departure, featuring a much more ergonomic style, slightly chunkier but with far nicer lines and a better overall “feel” in the hand. Of course the new ghd was not just a pretty face, packed as it was with advanced performance and some ingenious new features which made it better than ever for straightening and smoothing hair or creating beautiful body, waves and curls.

So let’s take a closer look at what puts the ghd iv styler in a hair straightener league of its own:

ghd styler benefit 1: New ceramic plates

The ghd hair straighteners advanced technology creates a surface that is perfect for heat styling. Aluminium-alloy styling plates protect the ceramic heaters, and their coating ensures that the glide is unsurpassed. The ghd plates themselves, are more responsive, deeply sprung to eliminate snagging and help reduce the risk of scorching your hair.

ghd styler benefit 2:Ready to go

Thanks to the new audible beep which lets you know when the ghd iv styler has reached the optimum temperature for styling, you’ll have no more doubts about when your irons are hot enough, and won’t have to risk your finger tips in finding out!

ghd styler benefit 3:Longer, more durable cable

The longer, more durable cable has an improved design to reduce potential damage as you style with the ghd iron. The extra length of the ghd iv Styler cable means you’re less likely to be moving mirrors all round your bedroom.

ghd styler benefit 4: Universal voltage

The new ghd IV Styler operates at 110V and 230V (AC). This means that wherever you go in the world, it will automatically determine the local supply voltage, and adjust itself for optimum performance. Now you’ll have an excuse to try and get them within your Ryanair baggage allowance…

ghd styler benefit 5: ghd Safety Features

New safety features include sleep mode and shiver mode. Sleep mode is activated when the irons haven’t been used for 30 minutes; your ghd hair straighteners will turns themselves off to reduce the risk of fire (or at least a mad dash home during your lunchbreak “just in case”).

Shiver mode occurs when the room temperature falls to below 5ºC. A “warbling” noise will be emitted, and the ghd styler will not turn on. This is so that it is protected from being used in cold temperatures where condensation can form within the ghd styler which can be damaging the irons.

For more information on the ghd iv styler and to find the cheapest ghd prices, check out our ghd price comparison.
