So here it is folks, the 2008 pink ghd "kiss" Limted Edition hair straightener . Now in its 5th year, and having raised an incredible £1.9m for Breakthrough Breast Cancer to-date, the pink ghd is back and it is looking better than ever.
Taking full advantage of the new coating processes that were developed for the ghd pure and ghd dark Limited Editions that were launched back in late-May, the new ghd pink features the same rich, glossy finish that makes the "effortlessly on-trend fuschia" monochrome look way better than the marketing speak used to describe it. "Fuschia ghd " doesn’t quite have the same ring to it as "pink ghd".
Being the first monchromatic pink ghd since the baby-pink ghds of 2004 and 2005, the plates are also OTF (on-trend fuschia… okay, we’ll stop now). This marks a departure from the black plates of previous years, and gets double thumbs up from us.
Now of course we say this every year, but this really is the best looking pink ghd ever . Honest, it really is, just take a look at the photo above if you doubt us. the colour is spot-on and the glossy monochrome finish on the 2008 pink ghd means that it really does look a million dollars (queue impending jokes about the price).
Hats off to ghd for pulling this one out of the bag. With the success of the ghd pure /ghd dark campaign the pressure was on ghd and their creative partners to come up with something that would help the pink ghd retain its position as the ultimate ghd hair straightener.
A minor downside would be the slightly odd choice of three lip glosses as the bonus gift. Okay, so it allows for the "ghd kiss" campaign, but is this really the most useful thing that ghd could have offered its customers? Afterall, ghd is a haircare brand and perhaps a monochrome brush, or another exclusive ghd carry-pouch or even a pink-branded thermal protector (as in 2005) would have rounded off the offering in a more coherent way.
That minor grumble aside, this year’s pink ghd is as close to perfection as your are likely to see (until next year’s….) and if you are planning on waiting a few months to pick up your pink ghd, you are likely to be running the very real risk that they will be totally sold out (again).
